One of The Best Live Albums by Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers Underrated…

To me, this is one of the best live session of Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers.
Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers At Renaissance Club by King Record
But...somehow, this album is not that known and popular outside of Japan. I don't know why...
Great, unissued live sessions by The Jazz Messengers recorded at Renaissance Club in 1962.
Look at the members here,
Wayne Shorter on Tenor
Freddie Hubbard on Trumpet
Curtis Fuller on Trombone
Cedar Walton on Piano
Jimmy Merritt on Bass
They all play great in this live session and the reording quality is also superb!!
Also note that this is the 1st pressing, the original of this live album. As you know, King Record first released this album for the 1st time in the world as one of the titles of
Blue Note Unissued Master Series in 1979.
In the 1st series, they released 6 albums (*Sorry, in the video I said 3 but actually they were 6 as you can see at the back of OBI here).
  • Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers At Renaissance Club GXF 3021
  • Jackie McLean Quintet Hipnosis GXF 3022
  • Lee Morgan All Stars Sextet GXF 3023
  • Lee Morgan Sextet GXF 3024
  • Stanley Turrentine Jubilee Shout GXF 3025
  • Chick Corea Circulus Vol.1 GXF 3026
  • Chick Corea Circulus Vol.2 GXF 3027
The 1st series of Blue Note Unissued Master series has Fat wide blue OBI almost identical to the typical GXF and GXK series.
But from the 2nd series of Blue Note Unissued Master Series, they changed the design and color of OBI. They are fine but...I prefer this Fat Wide Blue OBI...

Anyway, this live at Renaissance Club is really great. In case you don't know it or have it, it is better for you to look into it.
