One of The Most Underrated Reissues of Blue Note!

I think, this is one of the MOST UNDERRATED Blue Note Reissues!

Yes, Here in Japan, many Jazz collectors are hunting this Premium Blue Note Reissue series by King Record for many reasons. But...outside of Japan, not many collectors know the greatness of this series! That is why I spoke up here!

This series was produced by Mr. Shoichi Yui, one of the legendary Jazz critics in Japan and a chief editor of Jazz Magazine called "Swing Journal". - Charlie Wats A drummer of The Rolling Stones has all issues of Swing Journal! haha -

Mr. Yui says in the brochure (picture attached here) that

This series is a Perfect Art of Blue Note Reissue.

King Record manufactured this series in the late 70's up to early 80s. They chose only 15 titles of Blue Note in this collection, namely...

  • Herbie Hancock Maiden Voyage
  • Cannonball Adderley Somethin' Else
  • Sonny Clark Cool Struttin'
  • John Coltrane Blue Train
  • Bud Powell The Scene Changes
  • Sonny Rollins At Village Vanguard
  • Art Blakey Moanin'
  • Sonny Clark Trio
  • Paul Chambers Bass On Top
  • Eric Dolphy Out To Lunch
  • Horace Silver Blowin' The Blues Away
  • Lee Morgan Candy
  • Kenny Burrell Midnight Blue
  • Dexter Gordon Our Man In Paris
  • Clifford Brown Memorial Album

They used the heavy -around 150g- high quality vinyl and didn't use their typical serial like GXF or GXK, they used the original BST or BLP serial. They also used the thick, high quality paper for the sleeve and OBI is silver, really gorgeous design and fonts! In addition, they restored the original paper sleeve.

Lastly, the sound quality is really, really superb! I don't know what master tape or disc they used, but the sound is different from the usual GXF or GXK series! Whenever you find this series on the market, I tell you...it is better for you to get it!
