RARE Mercury Unissued Sessions on 4LP Box Set by Nippon Phonogram
This is my 1st time to obtain this 4LP box set...
Mercury 40th Anniversary V.S.O.P. Album
Nippon Phonogram compiled many unissued sessions on Mercury/Emarcy starting form 40's to 60's. Swing, Big Band is there, Vocals are there, and surely Hard Bop is there too!
This box set was released in 1984.
The recording quaity of early tracks is little poor but still, solid sound. I was amazed at superb sound quality overall, really. And all the sessions present are really great.
I also love the box. It is colored matte black with beautiful gold, plate like printing of the title.
They also put the Emarcy Logo in gold, just beautiful!
On the 1st page of the booklet, a legendary jazz critic, Leonard Feather wrote a great introduction.
They also included a detailed information on all the sessions and tracks present in the box set! REALLY INTERESTING STORIES behind the scene are also there!
They put the Emarcy/Mercury MG 36000 Series Discography too.
There are some, rare photos too...
One of the legendary jazz critics in Japan called, Mr.Kiyoshi Koyama compiled this great unissued sessions.
