Most of the Jazz collectors don’t give a dumb to this Art Pepper Album, the album is Mucho Calor by Art PepperYes…not many collectors pick up this title, right? But I LOVE IT VERY MUCH!! for some reasons,1Latin touch is great! yes, I love Cuban music. Actually, I have a bunch of Cuban music collections! Pepper plays…
I really don’t know why but Japanese companies like Toshiba EMI or King Record were not able to acquire the original master to cut their Bue Note reissues for many years.Great series like LNJ or BNJ from Toshiba EMI, GXF and GXK series from King Record were not cut from the original master from the…
Dave Pike is not that popular Jazz musician. But as I commented many times, Japan is a unique country that during the 70’s to the 90’s, major music companies like King Record, Toshiba EMI, Victor Music , CBS Sony and the rest reissued not only major titles but also minor titles like this,Dave Pike Quartet…

Wow…And I rediscovered the greatness and uniqueness of this VIJJ.Victor music Japan is known for reissuing Prestige and Riverside in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Sounded pretty good to me too…..whilst I don’t have the 2 King records to compare, I do have some of the standard GXK/F and the odd premium so will dig out and do some listening comparisons. Thanks for the information too – I didn’t realise that the King records were premium re-issues when they had non GXK/F labelling.
Tom, thanks for your comment! Yeah sure, you should compare them. GXF/Ks are also good but those premium ones are really superb. And…not many collectors outside of Japan know about them!
Great vid, love learning about the different Japan jazz pressings.
Cheers
Yeah, I am also having fun!
