I know this is insane and ridiculous but I had to do it!Welcome back to the JBJ Jazz lab.Yes, this time I did a sound battle between Liberty Blue, White Label RVG vs King Record Premium Reissue. The sample I picked up isKenny Burrell Midnight BlueAlthough King Record Premium reissue is great in sound quality,…
You know the Blue Note Unissued Master Series by King Record, right? This time, I want to talk about the greatness of this series. In the late 70’s, King Record started releasing un sessions of Blue Note recordings with GXF serial. If I count, there are more than 20 titles released at that time. Most of the titles released…
I didn’t know these Prestige Reissues in Japan! The series called, MJ series by Victor Music Japan. With this sample of Mal Waldron Mal 4 has OBI too and it is written,Victor World GroupThey used this kind of name in the 60’s when they were producing Top Rank label reissues. You know what?Blue Note King Record reissue has its popularity because of the sound quality, right? That is true, but moreover I think their reissues are popular because of their kind of unique OBI.There are some types of OBI that King Record created from time to time. I know what I like the most. But I…
Sounded pretty good to me too…..whilst I don’t have the 2 King records to compare, I do have some of the standard GXK/F and the odd premium so will dig out and do some listening comparisons. Thanks for the information too – I didn’t realise that the King records were premium re-issues when they had non GXK/F labelling.

Great vid, love learning about the different Japan jazz pressings.
Cheers
Yeah, I am also having fun!
