RARE Reissue of Dave Pike Pike’s Peak by CBS Sony Japan
Dave Pike is not that popular Jazz musician. But as I commented many times, Japan is a unique country that during the 70's to the 90's, major music companies like King Record, Toshiba EMI, Victor Music , CBS Sony and the rest reissued not only major titles but also minor titles like this,
Dave Pike Quartet Pike's Peak on Epic
This is another minor title but I think a great album and reissue by CBS Sony Japan.
The jacket design, and the sessions, everything is great. Bill Evans joining the sessions on piano makes this album more unique.
It is a sad fact that Bill Evans lost his partner bassist, Scot La Faro just 4 months before these sessions with Dave Pike were recorded in 1961.
Anyway, even CBS Sony reissue is hard for you to find on the market nowadays.
Great album and great reissue for you to look at, really.
I love this jacket design.
Pressing quality of CBS Sony is also superb.
They used this orange Epic label. Not bad right?
