I think this Bill Evans Live album is really RARE and Great but not known among the Jazz collectors.Bill Evans Jazzhouse MilestoneI also rarely get this album, a reissue? by Victor Music Japan VIJ 28141. These live sessions were oroginally recorded in Copenhagen Denmark in 1969 but the recording was not meant to sell commercially….
I already talked about the greatness of Disk Union Blue Note Premium Reissues. But…Did you know that they also reissued some other great jazz titles apart from Blue Note?Together with Blue Note titles, they added some other titles from other labels in the same series as BONUS TITLES. Here below, you can see the brochure they…
While I am featuring this album, Thelonious Monk – Thelonious Himself, I just want to talk about the greatness of Jazz, or what makes Jazz musicians great.I love Monk, and among his albums, this Thelonious Himself is one of the best. The main reason is that when you listen to this album from the start…
Dave Pike is not that popular Jazz musician. But as I commented many times, Japan is a unique country that during the 70’s to the 90’s, major music companies like King Record, Toshiba EMI, Victor Music , CBS Sony and the rest reissued not only major titles but also minor titles like this,Dave Pike Quartet…

I know this is insane and ridiculous but I had to do it!Welcome back to the JBJ Jazz lab.Yes, this time I did a sound battle between Liberty Blue, White Label RVG vs King Record Premium Reissue. The sample I picked up isKenny Burrell Midnight BlueAlthough King Record Premium reissue is great in sound quality,…
Hi Takashi, the session tapes for that recording were done in 1949 and 1950, still the very early days for analogue tape and analogue tape recorders. Most likely recorded on an early Ampex machine.
The France pressing you have was the original release for that title in France. Since it has RVG stampers, the lacquer was cut in the US and shipped to France where pressing took place; 1959 to 1961. Do not know who did the plating (could have been US or if shipped fast enough, could have been done in France) prior to stamping. Not sure about the UK issue, but would guess that would be a bit later.
I have an orig US pressing of this title. Was also released as an OJC title in the US in the 1980s and as you noted, Victor Music issued this title in Japan.
John
Thank you for your great info and observation!
I see the Etching on the dead wax exactly the same each other assuming that French Barclay and Esquire used the same lacquer then stamper…
I really appreciate for your contribution!
