Another Story of Blue Note Reissue by Toshiba EMI Japan

Recently I talked about Toshiba EMI Blue Note Reissue Series especially LNJ and BNJ.

But there is another interesting story you might like.
In the early 90's Toshiba EMI started reissuing many Blue Note titles of BLP 4000 Series. They reissued those titles as STEREO, BST Series. In between 1991 and 1993, they reissued...like crazy many of which were never rissued by King Record.
*They also reissued some Blue Note 4000 in between 1989 and 1990. But many of them were reissued from 1991 to 1993.

The sound quality and pressing quality of those series are great. I personally prefer BNJ of the 80's but still, these BST Series are great.

But in 1993, they also produced and manufactured the series called,
Rare Groove Collection
There are 15 titles in this series BUT! the quality of pressing is really BAD!! I already talked about it many times. I call these series "NOTORIOUS".
Many pressing errors and the noise is distinct on many of the copies I obtained.

It is quite funny..the same year in 1993, they also manufactured many BST Series and the quality is really good!! not like these Rare Groove collection.

So, I guess...Those BST Series from 1991 to 1993 were pressed at a different company like Toyo Kasei. But, Rare Groove collection series were pressed at a Toshiba facility, using old, not used machine cutting the production cost. You know, there is a BIG difference between BST series and Rare Groove Collection series in terms of quality.

Anyway, this is my guessing, no concrete evidence...haha.
